Charlotte Pass to Mount Stilwell

Including the Snow Gums Boardwalk

Experience the Magic of Sunset in the Snowy Mountains. Join us for a golden hour walk from Charlotte Pass to Mount Stilwell, where you’ll capture nature’s masterpiece with your camera and savour the flavours of wine and cheese as the sun bids adieu to the day from the top of Kangaroo ridge chairlift.

The old ruins of the chairlift from Charlotte Pass to Thredbo make an interesting back drop. Head torches required. Daylight saving in the mountains means we still head back in the low light.

Optional or you can enjoy a complimentary welcome wine and cheese at the lodge.

Day 2 Walks

Walk 1

Guthega to Charlotte Pass Walk

The highlight of this hike is reaching Illawong Bridge, where you’ll encounter the mighty Spencer Creek. As the snow melts in the warmer months, the creek swells, creating a symphony of rushing water that reverberates through the valley. The new Spencer suspension bridge adds opportunity for stunning photographs.

As you near Charlotte Pass, in the summer months, the alpine landscape bursts into bloom with a colourful array of wildflowers. This natural tapestry, set against the backdrop of the Snowy Mountains, creates a visual spectacle that’s not to be missed.

Walk 2

Charlotte Pass to Perisher

via Porcupine Rocks

The trail leads you from Charlotte Pass through lush subalpine landscapes where you’ll encounter the iconic Porcupine Rocks. These rocky outcrops offer striking panoramic views, on a clear day you can see all the way along the Alpine Way to Thredbo and in the other direction, you can see Lake Jindabyne.

Day 3 Walks

Main Range walk to Blue Lake, Carruthers Peak, and Mt Kosciuszko Loop.

The self-guided hike from Charlotte Pass to Blue Lake and Carruthers Peak will take you on a breathtaking journey through a pristine alpine landscape, rich in natural beauty and serene vistas. Lace up your hiking boots, and let’s explore the wonders of this iconic national park.

The first destination is Blue Lake, a crystal-clear alpine lake renowned for its stunning blue waters. Along the way, you’ll encounter unique flora and fauna, including vibrant wildflowers in summer. Be sure to have your camera ready to capture the mesmerising beauty of Blue Lake. You can even take a swim in the icy cold waters.


From Blue Lake, we continue our journey to Carruthers Peak. The summit of Carruthers Peak provides an ideal vantage point to appreciate the majesty of the Snowy Mountains. The vista stretches as far as the eye can see to Victoria on a clear day.


Continue to the summit passing Lake Albina of Mount Kosciuszko, the highest point in Australia. At the summit, you’ll stand on the rooftop of the continent, overlooking the endless expanse of alpine beauty. Return to Charlotte Pass via Mount Kosciuszko Summit trail stop in at Historic Seamans Hut perfect place to rest and enjoy a snack on the return.


Choose to walk just to Carruthers Peak or Lake Albina on one day and return the same way you walked. Or continue the loop to Mt Kosciuszko back to Charlotte Pass.

Choose to walk just to Carruthers Peak or Lake Albina on one day and return the same way you walked. Or continue the loop to Mt Kosciuszko back to Charlotte Pass.

Walk 1

Perisher to Bullocks Flat walk

continue to Lake Crackenback

Experience the grand finale of the Snowies Alpine Walk as you descend from Perisher, passing through the mystical Ghost Snow Gums, and follow the meandering Thredbo Valley River. Stop at Bullocks Hut—a perfect location for a riverfront picnic. Prepare to be captivated by granite boulders adorned in lush moss, all set against a backdrop of the mountains you just explored.

Still waiting for this walk to be completed in 2024. Alternate walks we have planned you won’t be disappointed. Three walks’ visitors miss when planning their walks in KNP.

Our first destination is Blue Lake, a crystal-clear alpine lake renowned for its stunning blue waters. Along the way, you’ll encounter unique flora and fauna, including vibrant wildflowers in summer. Be sure to have your camera ready to capture the mesmerising beauty of Blue Lake.

You can even go for a swim. From Blue Lake, we continue our journey to Carruthers Peak. The summit of Carruthers Peak provides an ideal vantage point to appreciate the majesty of the Snowy Mountains. The vista stretches as far as the eye can see to Victoria on a clear day.

The hike takes you from Charlotte Pass to Rawson Pass via the historic Seamans Hut, promising an unforgettable alpine experience. Seamans Hut provides the ideal location for a leisurely picnic. Before you begin your journey to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko, you’ll find convenient toilet facilities at Rawson Pass. Continue to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko, ready to conquer the peak.

Continue your walk to for a 2-night stay in Thredbo.

Day 6 Walks

Walk 1

9-Dead Horse Gap walking track

Begin your hike to the Dead Horse Gap Walking Track. Take the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift at Thredbo. The track leads you through vibrant herb fields and an array of blooming flowers during the summer months, all against the stunning backdrop of the Ramshead Range.

As you wind your way through this captivating landscape, you’ll descend through enchanting snow gums, catching glimpses of the distant Victoria Ranges. The trail eventually brings you to the cascading Thredbo River, and from there, you will continue your hike along the river walk to reach Thredbo Village.

Cascades Hut Trail an Adventure for Walkers and Bike Riders

Embark on a memorable journey along the Cascades Hut Trail, a route designed for both walkers and bike riders. Your trail begins by following the fire trail alongside the cascading river. Look out for wild brumbies grazing in the nearby fields.

Head toward the scenic Bob Ridge. This elevated vantage point treats you to breathtaking views over the Murray River, extending into Victoria. It’s the perfect spot to pause for a morning snack.

Cascades Hut, situated within the picturesque Pilot Wilderness Area of the park. Here, you can delve into the rich history of the region, appreciate the tranquillity of the wilderness.
After Breakfast we will collect you from the Hotel and return you to your vehicle for your trip home or next adventure.
